I have a concern about
flame-resistant chemicals added to some children's sleepwear, but

I of course also have concerns about flammable sleepwear. I was pleased to read CrazyForBargains.com's healthy take on the issue:
Children’s sleepwear sold in the U.S. is subject to flammability requirements set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Adult sleepwear is not subject to these requirements. … It means that children’s footed pajamas (in sizes larger than 9 months and up to a size 14) must be flame resistant or snug fitting. The kids footed pajamas that we sell are loose fitting and therefore must be flame resistant. The footed pajamas for kids that we sell are made of polyester, which is flame resistant. There are flame resistant cotton fabrics on the market, but we don’t sell footed pajamas made of this material.
In other words, the footed PJs and other loose-fitting children's styles are made of polyester

alone, which is naturally flame-resistant (and I use the term "naturally" loosely, considering polyester is a manmade material!). The snug-fitting and non-footed varieties are generally 100% cotton and therefore carry the warning "must be snug fitting." The upshot is,
there shouldn't be harmful chemicals in any of the kids' PJs for sale here. If you have concerns or want a natural fabric, look for (non-footed) styles that say "100% cotton" and "snug fitting" or contact customer service to confirm there are no added chemicals in the styles that interest you.

A big congratulations to the winner of the
WondaWedge giveaway — #136!
Great name, huh?
Knocked Up and Nursing says:
I'd use the Wondawedge for pregnancy / tandem nursing. I'm pregnant and in the last part of my second trimester. I'm nursing my son and we are planning on tandem nursing. This pillow sounds like a great solution.
Perfect!

The WondaWedge is ideal for indoor use (reading in bed, watching movies on the floor) or outdoor use (relaxing on the beach, propping yourself up for a picnic or outdoor concert), and since it's easily washable, you can use it both indoors and out!
If you were not the lucky

winner, don't fret: You can purchase the
WondaWedge Inflatable Back Support pillow at WondaWedgeStore.com at $24. The WondaWedge comes in a variety of inspiring colors.

Today, September 7, is the
last day to enter to win a WondaWedge Inflatable Pillow for
fast, convenient back support whether you're
outdoors on the beach or
indoors reading in bed. It's also a great support for pregnancy or nursing or during a recovery period. It inflates in minutes, then deflates to fit in your suitcase, diaper bag, or storage.

Go here to see the WondaWedge in action, and then
enter today on the giveaway post!
So, I promised to do
a post of the fantabulous WondaWedge in action, and here I am posting it the day of the
giveaway deadline. That's just silly! So I'm
extending the giveaway through the long weekend, so you can see the WondaWedge inflatable pillow at work below and
enter by September 7 to win your very own. Good? Good.
Outdoors:

Sam tests it out on the beach. The WondaWedge was easy and quick to inflate the old-fashioned way — with lungs, just by pinching the valve at the base — and it took up very little room, deflated, in our luggage and beach bag. I like that we can store it away easily but know that setting it up again will be a breeze. If you have access to a manual or electric pump, inflating would take no time at all.

Sam and I give it two thumbs up for comfortable back support. Besides relaxing by the shore, you could use the WondaWedge anywhere outdoors where you want to sit for a spell but there's no back rest — such as at a picnic or campsite, or an outdoor concert or casual sporting event.
The flocked velvety surface ("sueded vinyl" PVC) of the WondaWedge was comfy even in a swimsuit, and it cleaned up really easily after our beach excursion with just some clear water and looks none the worse for wear. For heavier grime, you can use soap and a brush.

The WondaWedge can be positioned three different ways, depending on what kind of support you want: reclined for relaxing, more upright for reading or watching a show, or a comfortable neck and shoulder support for lying down. The attached mat lets your body weight hold the pillow in place, so it feels secure. You can inflate it to your own desired comfort level, depending on what position you want to use, since you can use the WondaWedge in a side-reclining or stomach position as well. You could even have someone else share the back with you!
Indoors:

If you look at the top beach picture, you can see the WondaWedge got plenty sandy and salt-watered — and yet the sand brushed right off with no problem, so I could quickly wash it off after our trip, let it drip dry, and try it out in bed without worrying about leaving a sand trail. The WondaWedge can be used inside just as easily as outside and is great back support for reading in bed or watching TV from the floor. It can elevate your shoulders and head in the reclining position to help you rest comfortably if you have a cold.

The WondaWedge would also be perfect during pregnancy for extra back support and a more upright sleeping position (remember, it does recline further if you flip it the other direction), or as a support under your knees or feet to elevate those swollen ankles. It also works great as a nursing support, keeping you comfortably upright as you breastfeed. If you need a specific nursing pillow, you could use it in conjunction with the WondaWedge to keep your back in a happy position and assist you in taking it easy as you recover from childbirth.
I'm so glad our WondaWedge came in time for our vacation, and that I have it to use at home now that I'm back. The pillow seems
high quality and well made, and I anticipate using it for a long time. Working with the company was pleasurable, with
speedy communication and shipping.

Special notification: I've extended the giveaway through September 7 due to vacation delays on my part!
In continuing celebration of
World Breastfeeding Week (and National Breastfeeding Awareness Month!), I am pleased to bring you an inflatable pillow that you can use for back support for nursing, pregnancy, travel, and outdoor fun.
WondaWedge is offering my readers a giveaway of a
WondaWedge Inflatable Back Support Pillow!
They're sending me my own pillow for review, but they were kind enough to let me start the giveaway in advance so we could get in on the World Breastfeeding Week celebration! So stay tuned for my review after I test my pillow in bed, in the park, and on the beach!
Here is
information I can give you on the pillow, though, from the website and reviews:
The WondaWedge is a
lightweight, inflatable triangular wedge pillow with a permanently attached mat, offering
three different sitting or reclining positions: upright, reclining, and lying down. It was designed by physiotherapists and is recommended for back support.
Because your weight holds the mat down, the pillow stays in one spot and enables you to relax. It works great in that
uncomfortable third trimester of pregnancy and then as support while breastfeeding.
Made of "sueded" vinyl, it’s easily hand washable.
The pillow is inflatable, so it can be inflated to your comfort level, and then it stores easily and
fits nicely into a suitcase for travel.
Many people enjoy using the WondaWedge
outdoors as well as inside. It can give you needed back support when you're attending a picnic on the grass or relaxing on the beach. Think of all the summer activities you could bring the WondaWedge to!
My take on its use during pregnancy and infant feeding: Note that this pillow does not support the baby (as with nursing-specific pillows) for feeding, but it
does help support the parent and give you some back support as you recline in bed or elsewhere. You could use a nursing pillow in addition to the WondaWedge and let the WondaWedge keep you comfortable in back. Many parents sit up in a more upright position when feeding their babies, and the WondaWedge says you can do just that. However, it also offers a recline position, and I do find it relaxing sometimes to recline and let my older baby or toddler lean onto my chest. This is especially helpful if he has a stuffy nose, as it can help keep him breathing more comfortably, and I've heard reclining is a good position for tandem nursing in bed as well.

I absolutely love the idea of this pillow for
pregnancy use, because I was
so uncomfortable toward the end of my pregnancy! It can help
keep your back supported or your knees or feet elevated. (I think I just might want two or three!) I would also use it to help keep
me in an elevated recline when I can't sleep because I'm feeling stuffy from a cold or allergies.
So you can experiment with the WondaWedge for pregnancy and nursing use as you wish, and find plenty of other uses for it as well:
Outdoors:

- Beach lounger - sand won’t stick to or penetrate
- Fishing back support - for more relaxing fishing
- Camping lounger - pack it along with your tent
- RV accessory - deflates for compact storage
- Outdoor concert seating - easy to carry, doesn’t tear up the turf
- Picnic seating - better than just a blanket
- Boating lounger - recline in style on your pontoon or sailboat
- Soccer sideline seating - more comfortable than bleachers or a blanket
- Outdoor plays/movies - lean back and enjoy the show!
- Stargazing - the reclining position is perfect for watching the night sky
- Poolside lounger - less expensive than a chaise lounge
Indoors:

- Recuperation - just home from the hospital
- Chronic Illness - for those who spend much of their time in bed
- Reading in bed - Chiropractors recommend it
- Relaxing on the floor - multi position support for a myriad of activities, dorm rooms, teenage bedrooms
- Meditation lower back support - focus on meditating, not your aching back! Pack one when you attend meditation workshops!
- Sleep aid - for GERD, Acid Reflux, respiratory problems - sleep well
- Pregnancy - sleep aid/breast feeding back support – be comfortable
- Breast Cancer - recuperate in an elevated position as this enables optimal blood circulation to all the vital healing areas
I can think of a half-dozen ways I want to use mine when it gets here!
