boy superhero ready for action — Pip & Bean superhero cape giveawayPlease continue reading to learn more about Pip & Bean, which is offering our readers a giveaway of a Superhero Set: Reversible Cape, Reversible Mask, and Arm Bands, a value of $25.

Up, up, and away!

Mikko has got a serious obsession right now with superheroes. So when I saw the fabulous shiny capes in Pip & Bean's Etsy shop, I knew Mikko would be thrilled.

Fun fact: Mikko wore his reversible cape, mask, and arm bands out while running errands, in the car seat and in the store, and then to bed that night! He's a fan. A superfan.

Adjusting his disguise in the car. The mask is made of two layers of sturdy felt with elastic firmly sandwiched between, so you can flip it to either color. Mikko must think his mask feels comfortable, because he left it on a long time! It's got nice wide eyeholes so seeing through it is still easy.

armbands — Pip & Bean superhero cape giveaway
The arm bands are a similar sturdy felt. They come in just one of the coordinating shades, which was fine, and they slip on easily. They seemed to be very comfortable, too — easier for a kid to wear than gloves but still lending that superhero panache to the outfit.

The reversible cape is made of two thick, premium layers of satin. The drape and flow of the fabrics is excellent, and it just feels so nice to the touch. That might explain why Mikko slept in his! It also stood up to the Seattle rain admirably and still looks nice — I love children's wear that's washable!

Review: My First Puzzle: Trucks on Amazon

This is an unsolicited review I left on Amazon that I'm reprinting for you.

My First Puzzle: Trucks
My First Puzzle: Trucks
by Anne Millard
Edition: Misc. Supplies
Price: $9.99
Availability: In Stock
22 used & new from$5.25

5.0 out of 5 stars Played with over and overJanuary 2, 2012
My four-year-old received these when he was 2 or 3, and they're still in perfect shape. They're a nice, substantial cardboard, and they make three trucks when put together. The truck for each puzzle is a photograph, and the puzzle pieces outline it, so you really get the idea of the shape of the truck, with the big tires and other fun features.

I think the choice of fire truck, tractor, and dump truck was good. Those are popular vehicles for little kids.

I find that the puzzle is challenging for a preschooler without being too frustrating, because there's a finite number of pieces and there's a lot of immediate confirmation about whether the kid has put them together right or not -- as in, does it look like a truck yet?

The firetruck is definitely the most fun for my four-year-old, probably because it's the biggest. I'm not great with estimates and don't have the puzzle out right now, but it's likely over a foot long when pieced together. Littler kids can start with the other trucks, because they have fewer pieces to fit together.

Giveaway ENDS TOMORROW: Mama’s Felt Cafe $25 GC {6.26; US/Canada}

Head to Natural Parents Network to enter!

Mama’s Felt CafeMama's Felt Cafe is offering NPN readers a giveaway of a $25 gift certificate to her felt food store for adorable hand-crafted play food!

From our reviewer, Amanda of Let's Take the Metro:

I was so excited when I was given the opportunity to review a product from Mama's Felt Cafe. Seeing her ideas was like an 'Ah-ha' moment, and I realized I could take responsibility for the toys my children play with by making them myself. Of course since I do not have infinite time on my hands, getting a few felt originals to start my collection was like a dream come true.

Brittany, owner of Mama's Felt Cafe, sent me a "Support Local Growers" basket for my daughters to man-handle. … As I took out each piece and inspected it, I noticed how fine the stitching is and how every little detail of the real food is present in the replica. For instance, the potato actually has tiny "eyes" all over both sides and the watermelon rind is two-toned and striped to mimic the real fruit.

… This set is so versatile because every piece can be used in an infinite number of scenarios, and even the basket itself has tremendous possibilities. It is sure to inspire the cook or vegetable eater in every child.

Giveaway ENDS SOON: Oh Plah! Teething Cuff $15 {5.3; US/Can/EU}

Head to Natural Parents Network to enter!

oh-plah-bracelet_2

Roundhouse Design Collaborative is offering our readers a giveaway of an Oh Plah! Teething Cuff! This latex-free, BPA-free, phthalate-free, recyclable teething bracelet looks perfect on parents, but it's safe and fun for babies and kids to play with, bend, twist, and chew. This giveaway is open to US, Canadian, and EU addresses.

From our reviewer, The ArtsyMama:

As I looked at the product description I began to get excited: it is latex free! Little Man and I are both allergic to latex, and it is sometimes difficult to find products that do not contain natural rubber or latex even though we would love to try them.

…

Caryn sent us the green Oh Plah! with the windmill design for our review. It arrived in a little box with very simple cardboard packaging. The bracelet slipped out easily and onto my wrist. After I admired it a bit, I washed it as per the instructions and let Little Man have a try. Green is his favorite color and he immediately stared at the cuff and turned it around in his hands to study it some more. He placed it on his wrist and smiled at me. The first time he was introduced to the bracelet he played with it for 30 minutes. In Little Man time that is an eternity.

biting Oh Plah! Teething Cuff

This is probably the most fun, versatile and simple toy we have right now. Little Man is not much of a biter when he teethes, but he does love to manipulate objects with his hands. It has become part of our daily ritual as I put him in the carseat — he takes the bracelet from my wrist and plays during our car ride home. It keeps him occupied during our car trips. He squishes, stretches, wears, bites and studies the Oh Plah! It has not lost its shape, shine or design either.
