I had the joy of
hearing midwife Ina May Gaskin speak in Seattle and would like to offer my
Ina May-signed copy of Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta to one reader who wasn't lucky enough to have seen her in person!
(You can read
my full account of Ina May Gaskin's presentation at Hobo Mama, and find
Amy of Anktangle's take on her blog.)
Birth Matters
is Ina May Gaskin's latest book, published just this year.
The book is described
here as "a spirited manifesta showing us how to trust women, value birth, nurture families, and reconcile modern life with a process as old as our species." I've resisted reading this copy so I don't ruin it for the winner, and I'm still in line for it at the library. But in a brief flip-through, I'm already entranced.
Don't you adore the cover? That's Ina May herself with her newborn son Samuel.
The book is
worth $17 (plus the priceless autograph!), and I will gladly mail it
anywhere in the world.
The contest ends
June 6, because it's my anniversary and sounds pretty. I'll most likely even have gone through my next birth by then!

Here's my stalker-ish proof that I stood in line for the autograph!

Roundhouse Design Collaborative is offering our readers a giveaway of an
Oh Plah! Teething Cuff! This latex-free, BPA-free, phthalate-free, recyclable teething bracelet looks perfect on parents, but it's safe and fun for babies and kids to play with, bend, twist, and chew. This giveaway is open to US, Canadian, and EU addresses.
From our reviewer, The ArtsyMama:
As I looked at the product description I began to get excited: it is latex free! Little Man and I are both allergic to latex, and it is sometimes difficult to find products that do not contain natural rubber or latex even though we would love to try them.
…
Caryn sent us the green Oh Plah! with the windmill design for our review. It arrived in a little box with very simple cardboard packaging. The bracelet slipped out easily and onto my wrist. After I admired it a bit, I washed it as per the instructions and let Little Man have a try. Green is his favorite color and he immediately stared at the cuff and turned it around in his hands to study it some more. He placed it on his wrist and smiled at me. The first time he was introduced to the bracelet he played with it for 30 minutes. In Little Man time that is an eternity.
…

This is probably the most fun, versatile and simple toy we have right now. Little Man is not much of a biter when he teethes, but he does love to manipulate objects with his hands. It has become part of our daily ritual as I put him in the carseat — he takes the bracelet from my wrist and plays during our car ride home. It keeps him occupied during our car trips. He squishes, stretches, wears, bites and studies the Oh Plah! It has not lost its shape, shine or design either.
This giveaway is now closed. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winners. Thank you all for entering!

In honor of Mother's Day,
Sacred Rose is offering our readers
a box of the hand-blended, organic herbal tea Matri: Tea of the Mother to
FOUR winners!
I had the opportunity to
review four blends of Sacred Rose tea, and
Matri intrigued me as being one of the most herbally pertinent for my life right now.
Matri is called "Tea of the Mother" because it contains
herbs that have been used traditionally for centuries to bring women through their childbearing years and to
prepare their bodies for childbirth. As the website puts it:
"Matri was blended to breathe women in birth in the most high and loving way."
As I enter my ninth month of pregnancy, I appreciate any tea that can do that!

Knickernappies and
Fluff Envy are offering Hobo Mama readers a giveaway of a
Stackable Menstrual Pad Set! This Knickernappies cloth pad set is made of a waterproof fleece shell with two absorbent microfiber and velour liners, and is a reusable, eco-friendly solution to your period.

I love the Stackable Mama Pads. They're a
unique 3-in-1 system that will fit absorbency needs from pantiliner to regular pad to heavy flow. That way, you can adjust the absorbency throughout your menstrual cycle without having to buy several different pad sizes.
My favorite aspect of the stackable design is that
you can reuse the shell throughout the day as long as it doesn't get soiled,
just swapping out the pad liners as you need them replaced. That means you need only a few shells for your whole cycle, and you can buy extra pads (liners) separately.
One smaller liner works well for light flow. One larger liner is comparable to a standard pad. Snapping on both liners at the same time provides coverage for heavy flow.
This giveaway is now closed. Stay tuned for the winner announcement. Thank you all so much for entering!
Note: I'm cross-posting this giveaway on HoboMama.com, but it's the same entry form at each. Thanks!
